Uniting our communities

TUCKER County
Why I’m Running
After nearly four decades living and working in West Virginia, I have seen firsthand what makes Tucker County special: hardworking people, strong families, and a community that comes together when neighbors need help. Through our local family businesses (Piccolo Paula’s Caffé, P&J Restorations), church involvement, and community fundraising efforts, my wife Paula and I have always believed in giving back and supporting the people who make this county home.
I am running because I want to continue serving Tucker County and help ensure future generations have the same opportunities that helped our family succeed. I believe in practical leadership, supporting workforce and trades education, strengthening our local economy, and making decisions that put people first. My goal is simple: protect what makes our county great, unite our communities, and build a stronger future for everyone who calls Tucker County home.

The Issues

I believe the proposed power plant should be moved farther east, away from the towns of Davis and Thomas. I understand that most people don’t want a project like this in their backyard, and that concern is valid. While this development may be inevitable, we have a responsibility to make thoughtful decisions about where it’s located.

I believe the people of this county should have a direct voice in deciding whether to implement new fees or taxes. One option worth considering is a modest 1% sales tax applied broadly, while exempting essential items like groceries, gas, and medical needs. Any decision like this should ultimately reflect the will and best interests of our community.

I’m eager to review the long-delayed National Environmental Policy Act report assessing the environmental impact of the proposed Corridor H routes. Just as importantly, I believe the state must genuinely listen to and consider what Tucker County residents want for the future of this highway. As Corridor H continues to bring jobs, growth, and tax revenue to our county, we must ensure that progress doesn’t come at the expense of the communities that make this area special.

Not every student follows the same path after graduation, and that's okay. I believe our schools should offer strong trade and technical education programs alongside traditional academics, giving students more options for their future. By teaching practical skills and creating pathways to good careers, we can bolster our enrollment, help young people succeed, and strengthen our local workforce keeping talent here in Tucker County.

Small businesses are the backbone of Tucker County. Regardless of who owns them, every entrepreneur who contributes to our local economy deserves the opportunity to succeed. By supporting and investing in our small business community, we strengthen Tucker County for everyone.
